What are the opportunities for regional farms and businesses to benefit from the Energy Transition?
QFF’s webinar on 25 October 2022 (see below) outlined the project and invited regional farms, businesses, and Councils to tell us about the opportunities for localised energy in their regions.
The Energy Transition is happening. Our current model of generation and distribution is being challenged by the falling price of renewables and storage, the push for decarbonisation of energy systems, the rapid development of technologies for sharing and trading energy, and new distribution technology and models such as virtual power plants (VPP) and microgrids.
The recently announced Queensland Energy and Jobs plan set a trajectory for 85% renewables by 2035. The Queensland Government has also developed a Regional Energy Transformation Framework for consultation.
What does that mean for you as a regional business? What do you need from this emerging energy system?
What do you see as the opportunities; the challenges and what are your aspirations?
In our first webinar on 25 October 2022, we explained some of the new terminology, technologies, and models such as VPPs, community batteries, and microgrids.
Amanda Dryden from the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) talked about how Queensland’s regional councils are preparing their regions for the Energy Transition, highlighting a number of relevant resolutions.
We’re asking farms and businesses about how they prepare for the energy transition. We are keen to speak to regional farms, businesses and council staff within Queensland’s three Renewable Energy Zones.
