Environment and Natural Resource Management (NRM)

Keeping agriculture sustainable and profitable is essential to the longevity and prosperity of our sector and the economy. QFF works closely with its industry members and their farmers to encourage sustainable farming systems that minimise cost inputs and benefit the environment.

QFF’s environment and NRM agenda continues to be both proactive (in terms of promoting best practices) and reactive (in responding to government and community concerns).

Environment and NRM policies are a priority in QFF advocacy. By working closely with government, QFF ensures that a balanced and responsible approach is taken in the long-term development of Queensland agriculture.

QFF maintains productive partnerships with government and the community to ensure the delivery of mutually beneficial, profitable and environmentally resilient outcomes.

Resource Planning and Natural Resource Management Committee

QFF’s Resource Planning and NRM Committee meets quarterly to engage with members on this important policy area. The Committee is made up of environmental policy officers from QFF member organisations. Key priorities identified and addressed by the Committee include:

  • BMP development and implementation
  • Energy efficiency
  • Reef policy
  • Irrigation and water issues
  • Climate change and carbon farming
  • Vegetation management reforms implementation
  • Regional and land use planning
  • Disaster resilience
  • Waste management
