Industry Recovery and Resilience Officer

Julia Jurgs

Julia, or Jules, Jurgs is an Industry Resilience and Recovery Officer (IRRO) for the Queensland Farmers’ Federation; an experienced fresh produce professional with an energizing commitment to the world of horticulture and the farmers who bring nature’s bounties to our tables. Through her studies of Law, Economics and Nature, as well as Agricultural Marketing and Farm Management, she recognises and appreciates the vital role that farmers play in our food, and understands the challenges they face. Her work encompasses the broader goal of building resilient food systems and practices. Jules is here to insist on preparing better for future weather debilitating events – where she can work with farmers to sow the seeds of positive change.

The overall aim of the Industry Recovery and Resilience Officer program is to help primary producers recover from the impacts of the 2021-22 floods; to build resilience to the risks from future floods, with a better understanding about the risk and impact of flood to their farm business.
