This Friday is National Agriculture Day with this year’s theme being Grow You Good Thing. QFF will be celebrating the day with a breakfast event in Brisbane, inviting our peak body members, corporate partners, industry leaders and key stakeholders to hear from Ministers on their vision for the future of the state’s agriculture sector.
There are so many trends impacting upon the viability, profitability and sustainability of Queensland farm businesses, which QFF and our members have been advocating for throughout this year’s Queensland election cycle.
From water and energy pricing and security to land use planning, workforce challenges and the ever-present threats of biosecurity incursions and natural disasters, farmers and industry are aware of the core issues and opportunities impacting upon the future of our state’s agricultural productivity.
In December QFF will be joined by The Demographics Group for an event which will explore these themes and other key trends likely to shape ‘Australia 2025’ and what this means for the agriculture sector, regional communities, and the Queensland economy.
Featuring one of Australia’s leading social commentators, Bernard Salt along with Simon Kuestenmacher and Hari Hara Priya Kanna, the event will take a deep dive into the latest trends, data and insights, and the demographic outlook for the year ahead.
Having a solid grasp of demographic trends is critical to understanding the future workforce of Queensland agriculture.
Looking at Australia’s demographic trends, including the nation’s low birth rate and looming retirement cliff, it is clear that we need measured, forward-facing policy decisions in agriculture and regional development.
Bernard Salt, and his colleagues at The Demographics Group will discuss the various risks and opportunities ahead for Queensland’s regional communities and agricultural sector and provide an interesting observation on the geopolitical climate ahead.
With both the Queensland and US elections now behind us, this is a good time to consider what we can expect in the coming year and beyond and QFF is pleased to be able to bring this event to Brisbane.
If you are in Brisbane in early December this is an event not to be missed. You can find tickets at qff.org.au/events
