- Cotton Australia’s Cotton Collective 2023 has been deemed a success, with a turnout of more than 500 people across the two-day conference and adjacent events. More than 80 exhibitors, including QFF, featured in the event’s trade show, which was also well attended. The 2023 Cotton Industry Awards were also presented during the event, with Queenslanders taking out all but one of the categories. Read more here.
- ChemClear® is drumMUSTER’s sister program that provides free collection and disposal services for eligible unwanted and/or obsolete agvet chemicals. Queensland collection dates are yet to be finalised, however you will need to pre-register your unwanted chemical by Thursday, 31 August 2023 here.
- Registrations are open for the Agtech and Logistics Hub Demo Day, in conjunction with Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA). The demo day will be held on Thursday, 24 August and will feature startups and scaleups developing innovative solutions to close the traceability loop in livestock transportation. - QFF has facilitated a Joint Consultative Committee with our members to provide a transparent engagement pathway for Sunwater’s next Irrigation Price Path for the period 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2029. - QFF member Cotton Australia and QFF corporate partner BDO, with the financial assistance of the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund and Queensland Government’s DCAP Program through QFF, will host online workshops later this month (22, 23, 29, 30 August) to assist primary producers complete their Farm Business Resilience Plan. - China has scrapped its anti-dumping and anti-subsidy tariffs on Australian barley. The tariffs, which were imposed in 2020, have significantly impacted some 23,000 Australian grain producers, with China previously accounting for between 60-70% of barley exports. Read more here.
- The Queensland Government is reviewing the requirements and guidelines for wind farm developments including a requirement for developers to investigate the impact of their projects on local workforces and accommodation. Feedback will close on Monday, 4 September. Read more here.
- Indonesia has recently stopped importing live cattle from four Australian export facilities over fears related to lumpy skin disease, despite the disease not having been detected in Australia. Read more here.
