- QFF has welcomed the Queensland Government’s decision to endorse more equitable and consistent irrigation pricing arrangements for Queensland farmers through state-owned water supply schemes. As a result, all Sunwater and Seqwater supply schemes will soon be capped at the Queensland Competition Authority’s (QCA) assessed cost reflective level, often referred to as the lower bound price. - The Queensland Biosecurity Partners Forum 2023 will bring together key stakeholders from industry, community, and government on Monday, 27 March and Tuesday, 28 March to enhance biosecurity outcomes and showcase insights from the environment, agriculture, marine, local government, and land management sectors. - Financial recovery assistance is now available for primary producers in northern and central Queensland who have been impacted by the recent monsoonal rain and flooding throughout Queensland. Impacted primary producers can also request an emergency fodder drop via DAF’s Disaster Impact Survey, or by phoning their call centre on 13 25 23. Mental wellbeing support is also available.
- Have your say! The Queensland Competition Authority (QCA) has released two new draft determinations that will impact electricity pricing in regional Queensland. The draft determinations, Regulated electricity prices for regional Queensland 2023-24 and Regional Queensland feed-in tariff 2023-24, are both accepting stakeholder submissions until Friday, 14 April.
- Climate Services for Agriculture (CSA) is an online platform that provides farmers with climate risk-related information for their local area by utilising historic trends, seasonal forecasting, and future projections from 2030-2070. Learn more here.
- The GasFields Commission has recently released it’s 2023 Shared Landscapes – Industry Trends Report. The report unpacks the economic relationship between the gas and agricultural industries, containing information relevant to landholders and their communities.
- Attendees at this year’s evokeAG. were buzzing when a solar powered robotic beehive, the first of its kind in the world, was showcased at the event. The device utilises cameras and sensor technology to monitor hive health and includes automations for pest control, feeding and harvesting.
