- Regional, rural, and remote communities received news last week that Rex Airlines had entered voluntary administration. Further details here. Earlier this year QFF’s President discussed the failure of Australia’s commercial aviation industry to service regional, rural, and remote Queensland, suggesting an inquiry may be required to address these inequities. - The Agricultural Extension Work Placement Program connects early career extension professionals with host agribusinesses or natural resource management organisations to assist landholders in the Great Barrier Reef catchments. - QFF join the National Farmers’ Federation in welcoming review recommendations for the Regional Investment Corporation to be maintained, acknowledging its essential role in administering concessional loans in a nationally consistent manner, particularly during drought periods. Read more here.
- The Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water has announced amendments to the Water Act 2000 and Water Regulation 2016. Many of the changes do not require immediate action by water users and will be implemented gradually over the next 6 months. Read more here.
