- More than 300 people travelled to Dirranbandi in Western Queensland for the Bayer Cotton Grower of the Year Field Day. Organisers were impressed by the large number of younger generations, keen to learn and play their own part in the future of the Australian cotton industry. Read more here.
- New modelling from the CSIRO suggests that the national diet will worsen by 2030, with Australians predicted to consume 10 per cent less fruit and 18 per cent more junk food. Read more here. The modelling was released just a week after the NFF’s Horticulture Council called for a campaign to boost Australian fruit, vegetable & nut intake as part of their Feast or Famine election platform.
- The QFF Crisis Communications Training project is taking expressions of interest from farmers and industry to attend workshops scheduled for Rockhampton (15 May), Sunshine Coast (21 May) and the Burdekin (19 June). The Sunshine Coast and Burdekin workshops are supported by Queensland Fruit & Vegetable Growers and the Rockhampton and Burdekin workshops are supported by Canegrowers.
