- evokeAG is the Asia Pacific region’s largest agrifood tech event. This week it will be held in Brisbane for the first time and will bring together farmers, startups, scientists, and business and industry leaders. - QFF joins the National Farmers’ Federation in welcoming the scrapping of the Biosecurity Protection Levy, which would have cost Australia’s farmers who already contribute significantly to biosecurity risk mitigation. Read more here.
- The Queensland Government has appointed former Natural Resources and Mines Minister Andrew Cripps as the State Recovery Coordinator to lead efforts in helping North Queensland farmers recover from recent devastating floods. Support packages have been announced with $100 million in extraordinary grants now available for flood affected primary producers, small businesses and not for profit agencies across flood affected areas. - Canegrowers are launching a taskforce to ensure the state’s sugar mills are up to the job of processing cane effectively and on time, following a season of poor performance that has cost farming families $57 million.
