- This Friday will mark National Agriculture Day across Australia – a day designed to celebrate Australian agriculture. - The National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) has delivered its 2025-26 Pre-Budget Submission outlining 20 targeted investments to drive productivity and growth, not only for the agricultural sector but also the Australian economy. Read the submission here.
- A new video is showcasing the benefit of Energy Southern Queensland (EnergySQ) – an on-farm energy efficiency program. EnergySQ is a collaborative project between QFF and ACCIONA Energía to support farmers reduce their energy consumption and spend, and carbon footprint.
- The Australian Sugar Milling Council (ASMC) has welcomed the decision by the Mackay Regional Council to protect land under cane from being converted into industrial land, as proposed by Edify Energy. The proposal for battery infrastructure to be installed on prime agricultural land in the Mackay region has raised concerns for the broader sugar milling sector, putting pressure on cane supply.
- A recent workshop convened by Dairy Australia in Toowoomba explored the drivers of competitiveness and productivity for dairy, focussing on the trends and issues most relevant to the Queensland dairy industry. Read more here.
- QFF would like to welcome Nursery and Garden Industry Queensland’s (NGIQ) new CEO Colin Fruk. Colin is an experienced membership professional with extensive commercial and industry advocacy experience. NGIQ will host a ‘Understanding and managing costs’ workshop for the nursery, garden and turf industries alongside Turf Queensland on 28 November 2024.
- A dynamic lineup of industry leaders who will headline evokeAG. 2025 in Brisbane have been announced, including Queensland-based speakers Melinee Leather from Leather Cattle Co, David Harris of Australian Agricultural Company, Jo Sheppard, CEO QFF and SkyKelpie Founder Luke Chaplain, who will bring local insights.
- The Australian-first benefits agreement has been created by the seven councils of Central Western Queensland to provide a unique framework for how their local communities will benefit from the proposed RAPAD Power Grid and other energy developments.
