- Following months of coordinated activist attacks on Queensland’s intensive animal farmers, the Queensland Government introduced new regulations under the Biosecurity Act allowing Queensland Police Service and Biosecurity Queensland officers to immediately fine people who put on-farm biosecurity at risk. - QFF has welcomed the Queensland LNP Opposition’s Private Member Bill, which proposes strong new laws against coordinated activist activities, and encouraged the Parliament to work together to ensure appropriate, enforceable punishments are put in place for activists trespassing on farmers’ properties and other businesses. - Five additional local government areas have been drought declared with extensions or part drought declarations issued in four others, bringing the total area of Queensland that is drought-declared to 65.2%. - A new Notice is in place across large parts of regional Australia, removing the need to apply for permits to move many agricultural combinations on public roads. Farmers should check the Operator’s Guide and online maps to see whether they still require a permit to move a vehicle.
