- Key stakeholders in Queensland’s environmental regulation sector are invited by the Department of Environment and Science to participate in a stakeholder consultation about a possible Independent Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for Queensland. - Milk processors must release their new milk contracts by 1 June, and QFF member eastAUSmilk is urging all dairy farmers to explore their options with all processors before signing a contract. Farmers are in a very strong bargaining position and should utilise this to gain the maximum increase in milk price. See eastAUSmilk’s statement HERE.
- QFF member Growcom, with QAWN, and funding from the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, have responded to grower demand for simple, effective leadership training, creating the Ag Leaders Development Program. This interactive, online training package is free and open to all Queensland agribusiness, no matter what they grow. Growers are invited to nominate HERE. Read more HERE.
- On Friday, QFF and the Department of Justice and Attorney-General were pleased to launch ‘Walking the Wire’, an e-kit to help strengthen the financial security of rural agribusiness women. It aims to provide guidance to help farming women take the next step in securing their financial future, particularly where they may have had difficulty prioritising their own financial security in the past. - Join QFF at ‘Convergence: agriculture, human and planetary health’, a 2 day regenerative agriculture conference in Brisbane on 16-17 July bringing together world-class consultants, practitioners and educators to help farmers meet their economic and environmental goals and offer knowledge about food and fibre development and its impact on people and planet. - Growcom’s Fair Farms program has announced its inaugural National Conference and Awards to celebrate ethical and fair employment in Australian agriculture. The conference will be held on 14 October 2022 at Coffs Harbour as part of National Fair Farms Week. Registrations will open soon. Read more HERE.
- Some of Australia’s largest chicken meat processors have agreed to change certain terms in their current contracts with chicken growers, following an investigation by the ACCC that arose from the Perishable agricultural goods inquiry report. The changes that these processors have agreed to will provide some additional certainty and transparency for growers. See statement HERE
- QFF in collaboration with Jobs Queensland have developed a suite of free workforce planning tools for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in Queensland’s agriculture sector. Workforce Connect comprises a digital toolkit, workbook and supporting fact sheets and templates. Workforce Connect can be accessed HERE.
- Advance Queensland and the Advisory Board Centre are offering 12 entrepreneurial and innovative Queensland women to undertake the Advisory Board Centre’s Certified Chair™ Executive Program in 2022 to support the development and participation of women at a board level. Read more HERE.
