- QFF has partnered with Ergon Energy and Energexto offer farmers belonging to any of QFF’s 20 industry members a 50 per cent co-contribution a maximum of $500 to match the funds of installing up to 10 rotamarkers on their properties. - Australia has secured an emphatic World Trade Organisation win against India’s price-distorting sugar production supports and export subsidies. - The Australian cotton industry has commissioned an independent expert to conduct an in-depth assessment of its environmental performance. The assessment has been commissioned by the Cotton Research and Development Corporation, Cotton Australia and the industry’s Sustainability Working Group. More HERE.
- Migrants and refugees know what working on the land means, and they bring a number of relevant experiences to farms, so it makes perfect sense to link them with long-term opportunities. - The Queensland Government is reviewing the Animal Care and Protection Act 2001. Stakeholders and the community were asked to provide their feedback about issues raised in a discussion paper regarding the review. - The Queensland Government has begun public consultation on the establishment of an independent environmental regulator. Submissions will be used to inform future decisions around a potential independent Environmental Protection Agency. More information and have your say HERE.
- Farmers impacted by floods in Bundaberg, Goondiwindi, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim, South Burnett, Southern Downs, Toowoomba and the Western Downs can access freight subsidies of up to $5,000, as well as concessional loans of up to $250,000 and essential working capital loans of up to $100,000.
